CRER Perspectives
CRER Perspectives is a programme for non-fiction writers, including journalists and researchers. Through this programme, we share space on our new website with aspiring and early-career Black and minority ethnic writers. This is a platform for fresh perspectives and voices.
The programme offers paid opportunities to contribute to the debate on race and racism in Scotland. Using a simple pitching system with a few basic guidelines, ideas that chime with our vision and mission will be selected for commissioning. A house style guide and some editorial support are available, making the programme more accessible for those who are just starting out in their careers.
We’ll consider pitches for any short to medium length writing format, from blog articles to research briefings and discussion papers. These will be published on our website under the CRER Perspectives brand, with full credit and a short bio for the writer.
We realise that established professionals can be held back by systemic racism in the media and publishing industries. In light of this, we’ll also consider commissioning more experienced writers for hard-to-pitch pieces that would make a significant contribution to anti-racist narratives in Scotland.
The programme is entirely funded by our supporters. As always, we’re grateful to everyone who donates to our work, whether it’s a one-off donation or a regular subscription. Our impact is stronger with this support, which allows us to invest in ‘hard to fund’ work like CRER Perspectives.
